"Stories of Hope" Now Available For Reading
An article was recently published in the Birmingham News by Mr. John Archibald concerning his request for stories of hope and his view that Birmingham is hopeless. St. Vincent’s Birmingham’s Comprehensive Breast Center
Designated an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
St. Vincent’s Birmingham’s Comprehensive Breast Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR), making it the only hospital in Birmingham with this designation.
“St. Vincent’s Birmingham is proud to be recognized as a Center of Excellence by the ACR for our rigorous quality assurance programs and initiatives which ultimately improve women’s health,” said Dr. Jill Rutherford, Radiologist at St. Vincent’s Birmingham. Mammograms at the hospital are all-digital and read by two board-certified radiologists.
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The breast imaging services at this center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
